Extravaganza Layers Shade (51x51)
Extravaganza Layers Shade
10-Cell Structure with Layered Canopy
Configuration: 3 × 3 base with folded corner cells plus centered drop ceiling
Shade Canopy: approx. 51 ft × 51 ft
Overall Footprint: approx. 67 ft × 67 ft
Layered bamboo shade with chamfered geometry and a suspended center canopy
The Extravaganza Layers Shade is a visually elevated variation of the Extravaganza Shade, distinguished by its chamfered corners and layered, double-roof canopy. Built on the same square 3 × 3 cell framework, this structure introduces a 10th cell that transforms the space into a striking architectural centerpiece.
Using Flying Shade’s cell system, the primary canopy is formed by 9 cells arranged in a 3 × 3 layout, with each cell measuring 17 × 17 feet. The corner cells are folded in half, creating triangular forms that chamfer the outer edges of the structure and soften the square footprint.
The 10th cell functions as a suspended drop ceiling, centered beneath the canopy. This drop ceiling sits at the same visual level as the folded corner shade elements, creating a continuous second layer across the interior of the structure. The result is a cohesive double canopy that adds depth, shadow, and visual richness while maintaining clear geometry.
As light moves through the layered fabric planes, the structure shifts in character throughout the day. From afar, it reads as bold and architectural. From within, it feels immersive and dimensional, with overlapping layers that frame the gathering space below.
The shade canopy dimensions remain consistent with the 3 × 3 layout. The overall footprint includes angled bamboo support braces, referred to as kickers, which extend approximately 8 feet outward around the entire perimeter, increasing total width and length by 16 feet.
